The smoke from the forest fires in Washington state are coming up to Calgary and Banff. That’s around 600 miles for smoke to travel. Now, I’m not a scientist but that seems pretty ridiculous. The whole place was all wooden and quaint and rustic with that earthy smell of wood and pine. We felt so touristy and silly with our cameras hanging from our necks: snap happy.
Although I barely know these people and haven’t seen them for over a decade, I can sense the strong bond of a family.
And he’s laughing and smiling as I’m sitting there in disbelief and tears and goes, “So Beth, will you marry me?”
“Ali, I really need to get out. Now.” I say.
He looks at me and goes “You’re green.”
And after that, I don’t remember anything.
