I saw this tag on The Book Nut’s blog and thought … I need to do this. Hamilton AND books – yes. Yes, please. So let’s dive right in.
The Room Where It Happens :: A Book World You Would Put Yourself In
For this, I’m going for Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell. This book is super cute and Deja is amazing (4/5 stars overall). And the autumn vibes are everything. I feel Scotland doesn’t get a proper autumn – so I’d love to experience it properly by jumping into the world of this book. 🎃
The Schuyler Sisters :: An Underrated Female Character
Karen and Connell’s mum are the two underrated women from Normal People. I know Karen is only in a couple of scenes but she’s always so bad ass. And Connell’s mum is the MOST LOGICAL PERSON EVER TO EXIST IN A BOOK. I just love her wisdom.
My Shot :: A Character That Goes After What They Want
This is a non-fiction book so Michelle isn’t a character as such – but she did go after what she wanted. She dedicated her whole life to finding the Golden State Killer. Although she died before the research was complete, she did so much good for this case.
You’ll Be Back :: The Sassiest Villain
I didn’t really know what to choose for this because I don’t read a lot of fantasy / sci-fi. But I’m going to go for Bellatrix because she has that sassy spark. Ugh, I love her so much.
Non-Stop :: A Series You Marathoned
It was over 10 years ago now that I marathoned this series but you should have seen me at 12 years old, zipping through this series. It was so good. So different from the films as well.
Satisfied :: A Favourite Book With Multiple POVs
Switching up points of view is one of my favourite narrative styles. I love getting the same stories from different perspectives and playing around with tone / style. It doesn’t always work don’t get me wrong – but when it does work, it works well. A Tale For The Time Being does it so well. I love this book so much and I’m actually getting a tattoo based on this book when that’s allowed again! 🙂
Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story :: A Series That Should Be Remembered Throughout History
This series is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever read. There are so many wonderful aspects of these stories: the characters, the action, the style. It’s told through texts, emails, voiceovers, CCTV footage. There’s no typical narrative style. It’s so exciting, fast-paced and action-packed.
Helpless :: A Relationship You Rooted From The Start
It’s been so long since I read this book but I know that I was invested in Dex and Emma’s relationship. I stanned them so hard. This is the kind of love story you’ll get wrapped up in and cry over – racing to the end of the book just to find out what happens.
Ten Duel Commandments :: Favourite Fight Scene
Not only is the last scene of this book (the fight scene) one to remember forever – so is every page of this book. This is the most unique and captivating story I’ve ever read, about two friends trying to have a near-death experience to see if they develop superpowers. Go read it now.
Say No To This :: A Guilty Pleasure Read
First: Say No To This is my favourite song from Hamilton.
Second: I wouldn’t I felt pleasure from this book… but anyway. I do feel a little guilty about enjoying this book. This is about a teacher who has affairs with her students. Now… I know it might seem weird that I’ve read this but when I bought it, I didn’t realise it was going to be so graphic and dark. But hey – if you’re going to judge me for reading this, then you need to judge the other 20,000 reviewers on GoodReads.
This is beautifully written and the story is sad and gruesome and freaky but somehow… captivating.
What Comes Next :: A Series You Wish Had More Books
I’m not sure I actually have a nomination for this category. All the book series I’ve read have felt pretty complete. But anyway – I wouldn’t say no to more Harry Potter books.
Right Hand Man :: Favorite BrOTP
(I had to google this. It just means favourite bromance.)
Todd & Manchee. I say no more.
What’d I Miss :: A Book/Series You Were Late To
I was so late to reading this book. Apparently everyone I know had read it as a child, but I read it when I was 24. I wish I’d read it when I was younger but it was lovely to read later in life, too.
Stay Alive :: A Character You Wish Was Still Alive
Sniffle sniffle. I was a mess all three times I read this book and every time I watch the film too. It’s just so unfair.
Burn :: The Most Heartbreaking End To A Relationship
Another ending that just breaks my heart so much. I didn’t see this one coming at all. The book is better than the film, in my opinion. Just in case you’re wanting heartbreak without the effort of reading a whole book.
The Reynold’s Pamphlet :: A Twist You Didn’t See Coming
For a book that is so heavy on the tiny details and lacking any kind of action/character arc – this twist was… Wow. It was insane. I gave this book a 3.75/5 star rating, but I think if I reread it, it would be a higher rating. It’s a masterpiece.
Anyway – that’s it for the book tag 🙂 I hope you enjoyed and got some new recs! I tag you all to try this tag.
